Junior Varsity Girls Basketball

Galena Interior Learning Academy fields a Junior Varsity girls basketball team each season. The Junior varsity program develops players in practice for the varsity program and gives young athletes an opportunity for game experience to get them ready for varsity competition. The JV team plays either other JV teams or varsity teams from smaller schools.

The JV team practices with the varsity during tryouts in December, then conducts separate practices during the rest of the season. Galena has two gyms, one at the SHS campus and one on the GILA campus. During the 2010-2011 season the JV team practiced in the gym on the GILA campus. During the 2010-2011 basketball season the JV team travelled to Shungnak for competition and played Huslia's varsity in Galena. The JV team in 2010-2011 was coached by Carlee Malemute.
