Varsity Girls Basketball

Sidney Huntington High School & Galena Interior Learning Academy field a very competitive varsity girls basketball team. The Lady Hawks compete in the Aurora Conference against Hutchison, Monroe, Eielson, Delta, Glenallen and Valdez.

Varsity practice begins in December. The team plays a full conference schedule and usually competes in 1 or 2 invitational tournaments during the season. The Hawks games are broadcast on KIYU radio, and the Hawks have a strong fan base at home as well as in Fairbanks. When the Hawks play in Fairbanks, they sometimes draw more fans than the home teams do! In the 2010-2011 season the Lady Hawks were coached by Beth Buchanan. The Hawks are committed to excellence on and off the court.
